The Minister’s Corner

Rev. Rick Belous (pronounced “Bell Us”) is a dynamic preacher and pastor. “Many in my high school and college classes are amazed that I am a minister,” Rick notes.

When Rick’s father suddenly died when Rick was a teenager, he said that he didn’t want to have anything to do with religion or spirituality. But then in his 20s, Rick had several mystical and spiritual experiences that led him to Unity.

”Unity is a progressive and open path to spiritual living. It is based on the truths Jesus and other great enlightened spiritual teachers embraced. Unity is a path that does not believe there has to be a conflict between science and religion. Most importantly Unity believes that we were born blessed and remain blessed,” Rev Rick adds.

Prior to his call to ministry, Rick was the chief economist and vice president of research for the United Way movement in Washington. He was an undergraduate at Columbia University, and he earned an MA and Ph.D. in economics from George Washington University. He was also an adjunct professor in economics at George Washington University.

“Unity in the Seven Hills is a warm community that is very active in social justice and neighbor helping neighbor. I believe our spiritual community is really unique in the Lynchburg area,” he notes.

Rick is an ordained minister by Unity Worldwide Ministries. He received a Master in Divinity at Unity Institute & Seminary. Rick also serves as an advisor to Unity Worldwide Ministries.
